Silk

6A grade. The highest commercially classified mulberry silk.

Origin

From Bombyx mori silkworms fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. 6A is the highest grade under the Chinese National Standard GB/T 1797-2008 — awarded only to lots that pass strict thresholds for filament length, denier uniformity, color, and defect rate. Filaments are continuous, reeled from intact cocoons without breakage. The fabric is constructed as double-jersey at 180 GSM — the weight required for a polo to hold its structure without compromising the silk's inherent drape.

The Standard

Silk's quality is not determined by a single measurement the way cashmere is. It is a composite of grade, filament continuity, denier uniformity, and weave construction. We specify 6A filament silk because it is the only grade where every variable meets the standard simultaneously. Anything below 6A introduces compromises that are visible under normal wear conditions within months.

No compromise on grade. No spun silk. No blended fiber. 100% 6A mulberry filament.
